The Pomme Experience

Updated: Sep 9, 2022

Pomme is the latest brainchild of 4 young and talented chefs who banded together to start their own cafe. I had the privilege to pay them a visit and try out their unique creations during their soft launch and it was a delightful experience. Situated conveniently in the Downtown area at 47 South Bridge Road, Pomme is a 5 minute walk from Clark Quay MRT and a 10 minute walk from Raffles Place MRT (I walked over from Exit G where UOB Plaza 1 is).

This week is their soft launch and you can easily recognise their shopfront as it is filled with many grand opening flower stands.

Once you step in, a simple yet elegant layout greets you :) The space feels just about right and there is a nice counter top with a glass display of their colourful desserts.

I quickly settled down in one of the comfy seats and proceeded to pour over their menu on the website. For lunchtime there were 3 options for mains, and I opted for the Seabass ($25.30) paired with a glass of Iced Ceremonial Matcha ($11.55). There was no fishy taste which I appreciated and it was pure delight eating the fish together with the citrus salsa and their in-house puree. We also ordered the Shio Kumbu Fries ($13.20) which was a good sharing dish. The texture of the fries was just nice - crunchy enough but not too hard. If you are a fan of Takoyaki and bonito flakes you will love this dish! Finally, I had the opportunity to order the Green Apple Mousse ($12.65) which was aptly called Pomme - I learnt that Pomme literally means "apple" in French. A mix of apple compote and caramel bits, this was a little too sweet for me but nonetheless still made a good treat together with the Houjicha Tea ($7.15).

It was a delightful afternoon spent at Pomme and before you leave do check out the toilet as you are in for a surprise! Who knows what will happen when you hit that red button? :D

All in all, do head down to visit them and support local talent if you are in the area! I will definitely be back for the dinner menu as a few of the items such as the Pork Belly with Nori Jam ($24.20) and the Miso Salmon ($35.20) have caught my attention :D
